Troubleshooting: an ingredient looks wrong

Fix common formatting issues when amounts or units don’t look right.

Troubleshooting: an ingredient looks wrong

If an ingredient later looks “off” (amount/unit/name), it’s usually caused by inconsistent formatting.

Quick fixes

  1. Simplify the line:
    • From: a drizzle of olive oil
    • To: 1 tbsp olive oil
  2. Use a standard unit:
    • From: 1 spoon olive oil
    • To: 1 tbsp olive oil
  3. Split combined lines:
    • From: salt & pepper to taste
    • To: salt to taste pepper to taste

General rule

If you want it to be machine-friendly, write it like a shopping list.
